Vice Group Leader

Engineers Without Borders is a nonprofit, politically and religiously independent organization which with engineering and science, entrepreneurship, and project expertise tries to contribute to a better world.

Role description

As Vice Group Leader your mission is to assist the Group Leader in leading the management team and the organization of EWB Uppsala as a whole. Your main focus is the management team and its interests. The fact that you have no further responsibilities beyond this gives you relatively free rein, and thus a great potential of making changes within the organization.

 Your job is to be of assistance to the Group Leader as well as to the rest of the management team. You are the secretary on the management team meetings but you will also have other administrative work such as being in charge of our file storage, i.e. our Google Drive. The Vice Group Leader is also, together with our HR, responsible for the yearly kick-off for the new members as well as the handover from the old management team to the new. All of the above goes to show that being Vice Group Leader is a highly diversified work where you will learn new things every day.


The position of vice group leader requires no prior knowledge, however, it is of advantage to have leadership qualities such as the ability to be decisive and structured. Having an eye for the wellbeing of a group, being a team player and being creative is essential for this position. With the group leader being the head of the management group you will also have to be responsive and cooperative in your shared leadership. In the end, however, the most important qualities of anyone being interested in getting involved in EWB is having a curious mind, heart, and spirit.
