Vice Group Leader within the integration project E2E Uppsala

Looking to make a real difference for asylum seekers in Sweden? Do you want to join the journey to drastically improve the integration of newly arrived academics in Sweden? Do you want to use your planning and coordination skills to help Engineer to Engineer create events? Then you've come to the right place!

Engineers Without Borders’ integration project Engineer to Engineer (E2E) in Uppsala is run by ~25 volunteers (both students and working professionals). Together we try to create a platform where asylum seekers and newly arrived can meet established companies. It is our ambition that this will accelerate their transition into the industry.

Over the last year we have quadrupled the number of volunteers and received more funding which means we have the resources to realize events that were not possible in the past. However, with increased resources also comes increased demand for effective planning and management, especially since we collaborate heavily with companies. Currently we are looking for someone to fill the role as Vice Group Leader for at least the upcoming six months.

Volunteer description

The responsibilities of The Vice Group Leader can be divided into five main areas:
  • Be in charge for the coordination of all E2E volunteers
  • Handle communication with the E2E group leadership
  • Manage the economy for E2E Uppsala
  • Building up the team spirit, which includes planning Team building and Kick-off events
  • Facilitate the work of the Group Leader

We are looking for you who:

  • Can see and utilize the big picture of an organization
  • Has strong organizational skills and preferably some leadership skills
  • Can communicate clearly and effectively with other team members and delegate tasks to volunteers
  • Doesn't mind holding public presentations
  • Can spend approximately +4 hours per week volunteering for E2E

As Vice Group Leader you will:

  • Have a chance to befriend inspiring people from all around the world
  • Get experience coordinating other volunteers and company representatives.
  • Become part of a large network consisting of university students and working professionals.
  • Make a difference

The work is continuous over the year. We have evening meetings every second week where all members of E2E are expected to participate. In addition, most smaller project groups meet on a regular basis and it is therefore preferable that you either study or work in Uppsala municipality so that you can attend these meetings. We would like to emphasize that previous experience is not a prerequisite, but it is important to us that you have a genuine interest in our organisation and that you are ready to contribute to make it even better.

If you have questions, do not hesitate to send us an email to!

All volunteers within Engineer to Engineer are very much looking forward to receiving your application!

Please note that this job is for a non-profit volunteer organization and is without salary
