Volunteer within The Food Group of EWB

Are you interested in helping to spread solar energy techniques for cooking through an interdisciplinary approach within an international team of dedicated people? Here is your opportunity!

Engineers Without Borders Sweden (EWB-SWE) is a Non-Governmental Organization striving to make a long-term impact in the work towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. With our engineering expertise, we are active both in Sweden and abroad, to solve engineering challenges related to inequality and global development. Through humanitarian engineering, we engage, inspire and unite people to build a sustainable future.

Join us and Spread the Use of Solar Cooking
Are you interested in helping to spread solar energy techniques for
cooking through an interdisciplinary approach within an international
team of dedicated people? Here is your opportunity!

The Food Group of EWB
The Food group (Sustainable Food Production and Processing) is one of
five core competence groups within EWB Sweden. We encourage and
support activities that increase the knowledge and practice of Solar
Cooking.
New members with long-term devotion commitment
• We are looking for more enthusiastic people who can contribute with
their time and talents towards this important
subject/issue/cause. Since it is not a common skill you probably, in
the initial phase, need to read, learn and discuss the subject with
others. That’s why this work demands a long-term
commitment instead of a one-year effort.

Interdisciplinary topic
Since we want to change people’s habits, the topic is
fundamentally/inherently interdisciplinary and the basic skills you will need
are engagement, devotion and targeting.
You can also have experience from an engineering field or science, such
as energy and thermodynamics or industrial design.
Other experiences may come from nutrition and food preparation.
Or from community development, behavioral science, business or
economics.
Working/having worked in developing countries is also a relevant
experience.

Exciting and Inspiring
• As a food group member you will gain several new exciting and
inspiring contacts around the world.
• It will give you an opportunity to work on the frontline of a “new
technology” toward a multidisciplinary set of organizations and
be part of solutions to reduce global warming and
increase both the health- and economic situation for many.
• However, we claim that solar cooking is not only for the economically
most vulnerable people. It can instead be used at several levels of
income, but the best circumstances are found in countries around the
equator.

Volunteer work
• All work in this group as well as in all our project groups is voluntary
and therefore unpaid.

We look forward to your application!

Join EWB-SWE

  • Volunteer

We have a passionate and experienced volunteer network of professionals and students who help make a difference and influence our work. Explore our volunteer opportunities and see how you can contribute with your range of skills, experience and knowledge directly into our activities. There is no requirement for an engineering degree, everyone is needed, and all are welcome.

  • Be part of inspiring children

Sweden currently has a shortage of engineers, a profession that historically has been a very homogenous group. Because of this, EWB-SWE inform and inspire children to seek an education in engineering or technology. This is accomplished by assisting students with their studies, acting as role-models, and showing a non-conventional perspective on science, technology and engineering.

  • Personal development

Develop your leadership and technology skills by participating in the seminars and activities we organize.

  • Be part of our network

By getting involved, you become part of an extensive network of talented people. We are not just engineers - everyone is needed, and everyone is welcome! We are located all over Sweden with our groups in 8 different cities.

EWB-SWE's network

We have a passionate and experienced volunteer network of professionals and students who help make a difference and influence our work. We are engineers, architects, scientists, educators, healthcare professionals, administrators and many others.
You can be active in projects, in the business or passive support. We collaborate with technical colleges and universities, with organizations and the business community.
