Engineers Without Borders Sweden is a volunteer based and value driven organization Engineering for Humanity. For over 15 years, we have been driven by a single goal: build a sustainable future for communities around the world. With sustainability and long-term thinking as guidance, we mobilize our engineering expertise to provide innovative solutions empowering communities today and ensure their resilience tomorrow.
Background
EWB-Swe is launching initiatives to integrate geospatial workflows into our international development projects. We're building capabilities to visualize project impacts, assess potential project areas using platforms like Google Earth Engine, and create smart data workflows. These initiatives are in early stages, offering coordinators the opportunity to shape their direction and establish efficient systems. We're seeking 2-3 volunteer Geospatial Coordinators to help establish these capabilities while coordinating with other data initiatives within EWB.
About the position
We are looking for new team members that:
- Are curious about geospatial possibilities and passionate about creating smarter workflows.
- Are interested in humanitarian mapping (a few mapathons are hosted each year) and international development.
- Can work independently while collaborating with a distributed team.
- Value open-source solutions and sustainable systems.
- Are excited to shape new initiatives from the ground up.
Conditions:
Start: as soon as possible
Location: remotely based
Time requirement: 2-4h/week
Terms: volunteer position
Technical experience with Python, JavaScript, FME, or other GIS tools is valuable but not required – we prioritise attitude, curiosity, and enthusiasm for streamlining data processes. Whether you're starting your GIS journey or bringing years of experience, we welcome your unique perspective. We will also be contacting other humanitarian agencies to learn how they have utilised GIS solutions.

Be part of inspiring children
Sweden currently has a shortage of engineers, a profession that historically has been a very homogenous group. Because of this, EWB-SWE inform and inspire children to seek an education in engineering or technology. This is accomplished by assisting students with their studies, acting as role-models, and showing a non-conventional perspective on science, technology and engineering. -
