André Melsom
Head of Project Incubation - KTH – Internal OrganizationMy name is André Melsom, and I am the Head of Project Incubation and Vice Group Leader in EWB KTH.
I studied my bachelor degree in civil and structural engineering at the University of Agder (Norway) and currently in my first year of the Master programme in Industrial Management at KTH.
Why did you choose to get involved with EWB?
I believe that EWB provides me with the best possible opportunity to use my current knowledge in order to try and help and make a difference in the world. With my somewhat unusual background, EWB (and more specifically the role as Head of Project Incubation) is one of the places I will be able to maximise the utilisation of my current knowledge and toolset. Furthermore, considering that I am working with other volunteers, I will also meet like-minded people and work together towards a common goal which not only is rewarding for me, but hopefully for the ones affected by our projects as well. I also think being in EWB is a very good arena for all students to continue learning and gaining project experience outside academia.
What does team Project Incubation do?
Project Incubation team is the cradle of international projects. We initiate new project ideas and propose them to the International Project Committee. We draft, outline and develop a rough idea into a solid project proposal, connecting the dots to the local authorities and partners, doing feasibility studies and presenting recommendations as well as guiding directions for the continuation of the project.
